Jakarta Must Be Free From Inundation Every 10 Minutes

Heavy rain that poured the capital city on Sunday (9/18) yesterday, leaving inundation on some streets. One of them can be seen at Jl Denpasar, South Jakarta. Whereas, the location has been inundated repeatedly but there is no follow-up from the local authorities.

I don't want to hear any statements that tell the inundation recedes in 45 minutes

Jakarta Governor, Basuki T Purnama assessed local urban village heads are less careful in mapping the inundation. Whereas, the location was also inundated two weeks ago, but not immediately acted upon.

"Two weeks ago, rain also inundated Jl Denpasar until Gatot Subroto, why not cleaned? Yesterday it was inundated again. This means the urban village head can't work," he said, at City Hall, Monday (9/19).

Basuki disclosed, they supposedly check the cause if they found the inundation. Thus it could be avoided in the next time. "They are an estate manager. They have to send PPSU when it rains. They must know which areas are inundated," he stressed.

All this time, several officials always report inundation has receded in a minute or an hour. But he wants every area must be clean from inundation, despite it is only 10 minutes. Because it will result in a long traffic jam.

"In 10 minutes, Jakarta must be clean from inundation. Which is why I don't want to hear any statements that tell the inundation recedes in 45 minutes. If there is the channel or not, just do what you can do. Don't make excuse it will recede in two hours," he closed.
